Steve McKinley

CEO/Founder
Urban Value Store

Steve McKinley is the Founder and CEO of Urban Value Corner Store, a fast-growing retail concept redefining convenience within multifamily communities. Since opening the first location in McKinney, Texas, in 2019, Steve has expanded the brand to 12 stores across the Dallas/Fort Worth market and introduced autonomous SMART Cooler formats, allowing Urban Value to serve luxury apartments, student housing, and build-to-rent communities that previously lacked the scale for full-service retail.

With over 30 years of leadership at major retailers like Dollar General, Circuit City, Rent-A-Center, and OfficeMax, Steve has directed operations across thousands of stores and managed hundreds of millions in annual revenue. His focus on operational efficiency, team development, and forward-thinking strategies has positioned Urban Value as a premium amenity solution for some of the nation’s top multifamily developers.

Steve is also a committed advocate for small-format retail innovation through his active involvement with the National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS) and its PAC. His work has included multiple trips to Washington, D.C., to champion reforms like the Credit Card Competition Act. As Urban Value Corner Store looks to the future, Steve remains focused on one mission: making high-quality convenience a premium amenity that increases resident satisfaction, improves occupancy, and creates long-term value for property owners and investors—while providing an environment that is rewarding to work in for their team associates.
