Jason Read

Director of Store Operations
Wawa, Inc.

Jason joined Wawa 9 years ago as Director of Store Operations supporting over 115 stores in South Jersey and the Jersey Shore and 10 Area Managers.  Prior to Wawa, Jason worked for Starbucks Coffee Company for 14 years in roles across all domestic business operations including food service, License Stores and Company Owned stores.  His most recent role at Starbucks was Director of Operations. 

Jason holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management with a minor in International Finance and an MBA.  Jason enjoys giving back to the industry and the community through Board service.  He is currently Chairman of the  Board of Directors of the New Jersey Food Council, and a Board member of the Wawa Foundation.  He serves on the Board of Convenience Store Women (CSW), and the Operators' Advisory Council at Winsight Media. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of Special Olympics New Jersey and Community Food Bank of New Jersey.  He is a former Advisory Board member for Rutgers University’s Customer Experience program. 

Jason is an enthusiastic risk taker who enjoys seeing his team collaborate to solve problems that impact store associates and customers.  He enjoys sharing his passion for Wawa, Leadership, and Operations through various speaking engagements across the US.  

When not working, you’ll find him traveling with his family, at the gym or cooking in the kitchen.  He competes throughout the year in numerous sports competitions including half marathons, Deka, and HYROX events.  He resides in North Jersey with his wife Kate, daughter Mia and a very spoiled rescue mutt named Basil.
