Melissa Vonder Haar has been a leading voice in emerging categories at mainstream retail for the past decade, beginning with the early days of the vaping industry and more recently focusing on evolving opportunities within cannabis. She first entered this space in 2012 as CSP’s senior tobacco editor. Since leaving CSP to join her family business at iSEE Store Innovations, Melissa has continued to establish her expertise of cutting-edge products as a freelance journalist and speaker for NACS, CSP and more. She has authored numerous cover stories on vape and cannabis, helped put together multiple events and educational sessions on these subjects, contributes to CSP’s online CBD newsletter, played host and moderator to CSP’s first CBD and the Future of Cannabis Forum in 2019 and was a featured speaker at NACS 2019 Future of Cannabis in Retail pop-up.
Melissa is a three-star NACSPAC member and participates in industry advocacy events, including NACS Day on the Hill. She served on the NACS Convention Content Committee for four years and currently serves on the Convenience Cares Supplier Committee. In 2021, she was honored as a Rising Star in Convenience Store News' Top Women in Convenience
Melissa lives in Brooklyn with her husband, 3-year-old son Shepard, and their dog and cat. She's an avid cook and certified beer snob, having won numerous local chili and homebrewing competitions.
