Larry Hughes serves as the Vice President of Corporate Human Resources and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at 7-Eleven, Inc.
He joined the company in 2009 and served twice as a Division/Zone Vice President of Operations, leading business units in both the Northwest and the Southwest U.S. regions. In addition, Larry twice served as Vice President, Learning and Development, leading the design and delivery of training activities and materials for employees and franchisees, as well as organizational leadership development initiatives. He also held the role of Vice President, Franchise Systems, in which he developed policies, led marketing and sales, and built engagement platforms for the company’s franchisees.
Prior to joining 7-Eleven, Inc., Larry held a variety of leadership roles for leading retail brands including T-Mobile USA, Bath and Body Works and ChevronTexaco. Larry also spent several years as Managing Director of the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City – Kansas City, where he helped more than 30 urban entities with strategy development, systems evaluations, and identification of growth capital resources.
Larry earned his Doctor of Education in Human and Organizational Learning from George Washington University. He also has a Master of Business Administration in Strategy and Managerial/Organizational Behavior from the University of Chicago, and a Master of Science in Management from Baker University in Kansas. A graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, Larry served as a Field Artillery Officer in both active duty and reserve components.
He currently sits on a number of boards including the Texas Physician Assistant Board and Armed Services YMCA, and is a Founding Board Chairman and Current Finance Committee Advisor for Degrees of Change.
